Weight Loss Grocery List

One of the biggest set-backs to weight loss is lack of control in the grocery store. Let's face it; it's just too easy to start tossing stuff into your shopping cart that your body would be better off without, especially if you want to lose weight. Yet, it seems like it's almost impossible to avoid giving in to the urge to grab that bag of chips or box of cookies, or whatever it is that you know you shouldn't eat, but keep on buying anyway. After all, it all looks so good and always seems to be right where you want it the most--within reach!

So what can you do about this? How do you resist the temptation to buy these types of foods? Well, it's really simple! You see, when you go shopping for groceries, just be sure to take a grocery list with you. You could call it your 'weight loss grocery list' if you'd like, because it will consist of things that you know will help you to achieve your goal to lose weight. Thus your weight loss grocery list will have things on it that your body needs to be healthy, such as fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts. And if you're into drinking bottled water, don't forget to get an abundant supply of it, because water is a weight watchers best friend!

You see, the idea here is to get into the habit of following a pattern when it comes to shopping for groceries, because what you eat will play a major role in how much weight you lose. But before you can even begin to lose weight you have to change the way you think about food. In other words, you have to stop living to eat, and start eating to live! Using a grocery list that is designed specifically for that purpose will help you to discipline yourself to control your cravings for unwholesome foods, and start the process of losing weight as you will only purchase foods that are good for your health. If the food isn't on your list then it shouldn't be in your grocery cart either. In fact, another thing that is helpful about having a weight loss grocery list is that there is no need to go to the aisles where all of those oily chips and sugar infested cookies are, because they aren't on your list.

Keep in mind however, that after shopping for the same things over and over again, it will almost become like second-nature to know exactly what you need and where to find it. After a while you may feel that you have no need for your grocery list. Be careful! Even if you know exactly what you need it is always best to take your list with you, because it will keep you on track. If you throw your list away it will be too easy to say to yourself, 'a little box of cookies isn't going to hurt this one time', and before you know it you'll go back to buying the same stuff that you worked so hard to burn off! Therefore, treat your weight loss grocery list like a shopper's best friend and take it with you whenever you go to the grocery store. You wouldn't throw your friends away, right? Well, don't throw your grocery list away either, because it will help you to get rid of the one thing that you want to lose the most--excess weight!
